Mr. López Abad came to what was then the Caja de Ahorros del Sureste (successor to the CAM) in 1970. Later, in 1985, Mr. López Abad collegiated as an economist in Alicante. In 2001, Mr. López Abad became the CAM's CEO. During his mandate, the CAM was involved in 66 companies and 104 real estate projects. By november 2010, López Abad left the CAM to lead the merger with Banco Base, which was later aborted because of the accusations by Caja Astur that the CAM accountability was being falsified. Mr. López Abad left with a €10 million compensation.
Mr. López Abad is being investigated by the Bank of Spain and has an admitted complaint to the High Court.
